Why We Built This Site

We started raising backyard chickens in New Jersey last March (2025). Like most homeowners, we had a lot of questions:

Are chickens legal in our town?
Will they smell?
Will neighbors complain?
How do they survive a real NJ winter?
What predators should we expect?

The answers weren’t always easy to find — especially specific to New Jersey. So we decided to document everything.
